The State of Texas has a record budget surplus. However, we are still seeing school funding per student in Texas fall. Our schools have been starving for funding. The intent to harm and diminish public education is Texas by our state leadership is on full display.

School districts in the Houston area are slammed with $850 million in deficits just months after Governor Abbott announced huge state budget surpluses. Folks, this crisis is by design.

Too many of our fellow Texans are still sitting in a hot, humid house without power after Hurricane Beryl. We need to hear real solutions from Dan Patrick and others in leadership on how we will fix the damn grid. No more political deflections and squabbles.

Very sad to learn that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has left us. I admired her passion for her constituents and for our country. It was an honor to know her and campaign with her. We've lost one of the great ones.

The irony is palpable, the hypocrisy infuriating.

I met Joe Biden and was with him on many stops during his 2020 Presidential campaign. The news of his cancer diagnosis saddens me. I saw first hand how much he loves his country, his family, and his fellow man. I’m praying tonight for him and his family.
