Today’s adventure on the bus took me to the town of Cockermouth, for a riverside and industrial heritage walk and a visit to the National Trust’s wonderful Wordsworth House and Garden, the birthplace and childhood home of William and Dorothy.

Yep! 😡 I once had to find overnight accommodation in Preston when Avanti West Coast terminated northbound trains there, even though the problems were in Scotland. Previous operators usually ran trains as far as possible, sadly Avanti don’t see customer service as a priority.

Very pleasant to rest for a while in the Old Tullie House garden. Rebuilt by Thomas Tullie in 1689 on the site of the previous Tullie family home, the Jacobite mansion is an important part of Tullie museum and art gallery.

A day of sunshine and nostalgia at the Wigton Motor Club classic show at Dalemain House. Brilliant to see so many people keeping these old cars going and in such fantastic condition.
