We reject any attempt to associate the PSL with the DC shooting. Elias Rodriguez is not a member of the PSL. He had a brief association with one branch of the PSL that ended in 2017. We know of no contact with him in over 7 years. We have nothing to do with this shooting and do

Hampton's interview was in relation to the "Days of Rage" in Chicago, which used the slogan "Bring the War Home" (also used by the alleged shooter). Hampton called these actions "custeristic," meaning that they are reckless, undisciplined actions that put the movement at risk.

In this speech, Hampton references the 1969 "Days of Rage," the slogan of which was "Bring the War Home." This same slogan was quoted by the alleged shooter in their alleged tweet. Don't be custeristic.

Fair point—and as I’ve said many times, I think it’s important to read everyone. And his work on virtue ethics is relatively unconnected to his early Marxism—but also I think it’s worth trying to figure out where to situate communitarianism generally!
