Prometheus tip: don't query `metric{env="prod", machine="prod-us-foo-bar"}` if that `machine` doesn't exist in any other `env`, do `metric{machine="..."}` instead. Prometheus will have to intersect all the `env="prod"` (all prod, all metric names) series with that machine's ones.
