Today we honor the memory of our fallen brother, Firefighter John M. 'Jay' Barry — who answered his Final Alarm on December 27, 1986. Firefighter Barry lost his life while fighting an arson fire set in a vacant store on North Main Street in Columbia.

It's about to get COLD 🥶🥶🥶 again! REMEMBER these tips for using space heaters! ✅make sure they are free of any damages. No damaged cords! ✅power them properly by plugging them directly into a wall outlet! ✅keep them at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn!

The holiday season this year has been an extra memorable one for Battalion Chief Lorenzo Spell. This month he called it a career after 26 years of service to Columbia-Richland Fire Department and the community. Members of 1st Shift came together to wish him the best as he begins this next chapter.
