St. Cuthbert's Cooperative Association opened at store at what was 5-6 George Place (now 368-370 Leith Walk) in 1906. There's a direct lineage from St. Cuthbert's through to Scotmid, so I would make that the oldest shop trading from the same location on Leith Walk (so far).

Thanks to the brilliant Jakob Assarsson.

For many years now, my relationship with Greyfriars Bobby has been limited to irritation at having to step onto the road to get past the statue, but this event reminded me of my Granny, who told me the story when I was very wee.

Andy Arthur 🐣 Threadinburgh 🧡 Heather 🐝 Brilliant Borlands - though I think since Pilrig Motors closed last year after 88 years, it might be the Vacuum Exchange which is over 50 years. As long as you are not counting Valvona and Crollas on Elm Row or McNaughtans on Haddington Place which is 67 years old.

Andy Arthur 🐣 Threadinburgh 🧡 Heather 🐝 Depending on the precision of your definition of Leith Walk Valvona & Crolla may have a shout. Started 1934. After that MacNaughtons Books is 1957 - so they should get a long service medal too.
