DNR helicopter crashes while battling Long Lake wildfire haligonia.ca/dnr-helicopter…

The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and continues to grow. Crews from NS, Ontario and PEI are fighting the fire, along with planes from Northwest territories and contracted helicopters. Multiple agencies are providing critical supports on a number of fronts.

As an update to this post, the civic addresses marked within the fire zone are known to be campers and not houses. The approximate size of the wildfire is now estimated at about 3210 hectares.

The Long Lake wildfires complex is now estimated at 3210 hectares. Change in size is due to crews being able to get a more precise GPS measurement while there was less smoke this morning. Still no reports of damage to homes. 1/2
