We've got a youth mental health epidemic. Part of the reason? Without being aware of it, adults are training kids to have hypersensitive threat alarms, without the tools or resources to handle any sort of challenge. The consequences are dire: thegrowtheq.com/stop-hovering-…

Values aren't values if you throw them by the way side when it's convenient to do so. Those are slogans. Easily dispensable. A lot of people have slogans now a days. Not many have values.

Tip for youth sports parents: How good your kid is at 6,7,8,9, etc. doesn’t really matter. In the vast majority of sports the performance doesn’t matter until after puberty. Let them develop a love for the game or activity.

Being really good at something at a young age narrows your world. It seems like nothing else matters. That's false. We need mentors and adults in the world to provide perspective. Having the ability to zoom out is one of the most important skills you can develop.

High school and youth sports are so valuable because they get at our basic psychological needs: -We belong -We can make progress -We can have an impact It's not about achievements. It's having a space to challenge ourselves in a healthy way. Don't ruin sports, parents!

The car ride home is so important in youth sports If after a win or loss you are obsessing about the game, what message does the child receive? It is very easy to turn a childs passion into something they dread by ending every activity with a lecture on what they could do better

Trust is the foundation of all high-performing teams and organizations. Leaders should aim to foster a culture of transparency, honesty, and good communication. They should create a safe space for feedback, empower team members to take ownership and make decisions.
