Let my athletes try throwing a little hammer after practice today. Just some around and release for right now. The excitement and fear was typical for throwing it for the first time, but I think they had fun and liked it.

I agree it can be one of the hardest things about coaching, but when that athlete starts to see it in themselves, the light bulb clicks on...one of the most satisfying/feel good things about coaching.

Brooks, who will be a Liberty North, MO sophomore next year, finished 6th at the AAU region 16 championship. Just missed qualifying for the Junior Olympics which takes top 5. Not bad for just his 2nd year of throwing. Lots of big things coming for this kid. MileSplit Southwest

Already qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics in the 10yr old boys shot, so today we got out for practice inspired by the new Men's American Hammer Throw record and we practiced some Hammer.

Cian finished 39th. He didn't get the PR he was looking for but he still threw well. He has improved every year and as his coach and dad I couldn't ask for anything more. The more he learns about form, technique, and how to be a better person and athlete that's where we find
