I love when players start understanding how to hit. Your swing is a piece so you can execute but then there is another side. What is the ball doing and how do I combat that? Where do I want it to start/land etc. 1st time working on down and ch.

Punching/pushing or "adding on" at contact produces a dull sound, is a glancing collision and causes you to clip and overspin the ball. Whiping or releasing the barrel produces a crisper sound, is a flush collision and allows you to spin the ball properly.

Two things can be true. The vast majority do not produce enough speed (bat, arm, foot) to play at the level they wish. If you can produce the required speed, you can't rely on just that as everyone on that field will also have it. You will need the intangible pieces to succeed.

I like using short machine when addressing a specific issue or really honing in on a location. It gives the ball more action than just toss it.

What does your practice look like? Is it so simple your brain is on autopilot? That is a false sense of preparation. Is it teaching you to win the battle between you, the pitcher and the ball? Because that is what the game is going ask of you.
