Phone listening to us? I talk about educ. all day and my feed has one ad for an online doc. degree. I have one little conversation on the way home about steak thickness and now all I see are steak recipes. Consequently, rosemary really does make a difference when basting.

Learning literacy and mathematics go hand in hand. Very appreciative of the folks AMSTI-UAH Sheila Clay Holt NBCT for investing in our school by providing our math coach. We ARE better with a math coach AND a reading coach.

Former HS geometry teacher here who taught a third grade lesson on multiplication and area yesterday. The stress of teaching area to kids who have only seen this a few times is way different than teaching it to HS kids who have seen it several times before. Lesson learned.

Really like this one. Other members of the #pantherFAMILY know why…it’s not because of Bama football (Roll Tide), but because of the standard we have CHOSEN to set for ourselves.

A smooth second day for us at Stevenson Elementary. Almost mid-year form in dismissal and lunch times. So proud of our #pantherFAMILY for being ready to do what it takes to be successful in the little things.

Today was our first day with students. I built my to-do list based on things my teachers needed, not things I needed to do. Apparently, some of my ‘stuff’ is less important than I thought.

Proud to have representatives from Stevenson Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for the first day of school.

Being able to say OUR vision and knowing that the work was done to actually put together a school-wide vision is powerful. We give lip-service to buy-in but when you have it because everyone contributed, you can definitely move the needle!

We lost our superintendent. This man took a chance on me in my first principal position. I’ll forever be grateful for that. But even more, he was always a call away and always had my back. He loved kids and loved Jackson County.

As a parent of a rising second grader, I am EXCITED to know her teacher and colleagues spent the day planning for next year. As these folks’ principal, I’m tremendously PROUD they’re willing to put in this work on their own time.

We have better methods that do all the things averages were supposed to do. As a parent and principal who has seen these standards-based approaches in action, I see no need to keep trying to figure out the difference in a 59 or a 60 for a final “grade.”

A lot of learning with good people. Proud to share ideas with such a quality bunch.
