Ouch!! But they say that they're "community led" so that makes it OK doesn't it? (I don't think the communities feel like they're leading this)

Good article about benefits of local, small scale fruit & veg farming, and why govt should support it (which it currently doesn't - no subsidies <5ha, even though they're 100s of times more productive / ha than most subsidised units, and better for environ, community, health etc)

Waiting for the bus to go to #GoFalkland to speak on @ScotEcoDesign and Nature Friendly Farming Network discussions. Looking at how I try to positively influence nature and food systems: local food & horticulture, dual purpose breeds (meat & fibre), trees in fields, messy spaces, species rich fields.

Looking forward to catching up with Kirsty Tait Domhnall Macsween and Phil Knott at this NFFN discussion at #GOFalkland tomorrow! (Love the pic of my croft and sheep used for the promo poster!) 🕐1.45 to 2.45 🎪TENT 3 Field of Prosperity

Delighted to read that my young elm trees may be safe from Dutch Elm disease for a good while yet... I'm pretty sure we're a few degrees colder than most of the rest of Assynt!!

Took sheep to the abattoir today. One of the hardest things I have to do...but would rather do this than offload and ignore the burden by selling on, where they'd go to people who (potentially) are less concerned about ensuring a good life and clean end. Esp for old Shetland ewes

After 4 years I might finally be getting the hang of cutting chops! Only 1 mistake in this batch and none on the floor! (Sadly, means more to sell and less for me to eat!) Delicious Shetland mutton! (breed, not location)

Crofting legislation consultation seems to indicate that they consider habitat restoration on a croft sufficient to meet crofting duties (without any other productive use). Anyone else concerned about this? (Read the text around Q4.3)
