On the Throne Day 🇲🇦 Of 54 persons with final death sentences, 23 benefited yesterday from a royal pardon, commuting their death sentences. Over the past 25 years, more than 240 death row inmates got royal pardons, ~4.5x the current number of inmates with final death sentences.

In recent years #Morocco’s #NHRI has intensified advocacy w/ partners & Coalition against #DeathPenalty, including for a vote in favor of the global moratorium. Morocco🇲🇦 voted in favor last year has never executed DP since 1993 its Constitution explicitly enshrines #RightToLife
