HEY! The ICE deadline is coming up super fast (December 15!). If you make comics or games, please consider submitting to the symposium: 20-4. Manga, Comics, and Games as tools for Entomological Engagement! I'd love if anyone could share with entomologists in Japan making manga!

Presenting my #CellBio2023 poster today at 12:15 on how our video game #Microscopya combines molecular mechanisms with visual metaphors to create puzzles that communicate science in intuitive ways! Currently looking for collaborators, so please stop by! #SciArt #SciCom #IndieDev

As we roll into the start of the semester, I have a question: What's your average PPT deck for a 75-minute lecture? I am for no more than 45-slides but that rarely happens.

Once again, I come hat in hand, asking if anyone has invented a website where my undergrad students can put in a morphological matrix (maybe 10 taxa, 15 characters) and we can look at some trees and stuff. For those of you suggesting I just download X program, no go on school PC

Now that BioQuip is long out of business - who's selling a decent Berlese trap (either the bucket or the hanging type, don't care so long as it has the light bulb).

Slightly modified version of Derek Hennen, Ph.D.’s Berlese funnel setup! didn’t have time to cut opening in buckets and cut 1/4 inch metal mesh with tin snips to fit in funnel. derekhennen.com/blog/2021/10/2…

Over the last couple of years, I’ve developed horrible sneezing-fits the evening and day after sweepnetting sessions. Has this happened to other entomologists? Is it some sort of pollen allergy? It’s making fieldwork not great.

Wild to see my study group, Dryinidae mentioned in my local internet paper today, Gothamist WNYC 🎙 Rosemary Misdary gothamist.com/news/lanternfl…. Can confirm that none of our local species are going for spotted lantern fly out on Long Island, sadly.
