Our city is made up over 50% renters. We need to be protecting our tenant services and eviction prevention contracts, not slashing them. We need to be making sure that homes are safe and habitable, and that there is quick and effective recourse if not.

You might not realize the importance of tenant services until you ✨need✨ tenant services. Without adequate funding for renter education, organizing, counseling, and legal services, most renters will have no one to turn to if they have an abusive landlord or are facing eviction

The Mayor's proposed budget slashes legal services for homeless youth, public benefits legal assistance, and more. Human services are always the first to get cut in a budget shortfall, but it doesn't have to be this way. Show up for the Council's Public Hearing on 10/16, 5PM.

Amidst a $260 million budget deficit where there are over 100 City workers getting laid off, this Council just approved $50,000 hiring bonuses for SPD. SPD officers have received a 23% pay increase this year, and the department is seeing an increase of 15% in this year's budget.
