There’s a lot to be saddened by over these LA Times layoffs, but losing the team at the Washington DC bureau is going to hurt coverage of what’s happening in Congress for the folks back home in California. And it’s an election year. Huge loss for the public.

Courtney is an amazing journalist and a rock star on one of the toughest beats in journalism- the White House. Hire her immediately!

I spent ten years at the Los Angeles Times, with the last four in the D.C. bureau. erin b. logan and Courtney Subramanian are fantastic journalists and wonderful colleagues. Hire them as fast as you can.

The bureau was lucky to have you — a standout reporter and superb colleague. A major loss for the LAT and, soon enough, some other newsroom’s gain.
