We are building accuracy and automaticity in connecting letters and sounds with Roll and Read. We found all the targeted vowel teams first before playing the game. (They found digraphs and blends, too!) Step by step approach made it easy and fun! 🥰UF Literacy Institute

Gr 2 students William King School are starting to learn about compound words. What a fun way to see two words coming together to make a compound word! These were flip open book format so the compound words is revealed when you open the flaps. @tracimckay @HrceLiteracy

We explored books by author, Barbara Reid and were inspired by her plasticine clay pictures! For writers workshop, students created their own artwork with clay and started to write a story about it! Burton Ettinger

Time to examine the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Gr 3s @HorizonElement2 created an anchor chart and went on a non-fiction text feature scavenger hunt. Lots of engagement! @HrceLiteracy

These gr 3 FI students @HorizonElement2 have been learning how to infer the character’s feelings and what might be happening in a story. Today’s book was very engaging! They shared so much orally, I had to remind them to keep recording their wonderful thoughts! @HrceLiteracy
