We are very clearly in a two year rolling record dry in much of SA and yet there is limited SA govt support & nothing from the Federal Govt, unlike federal grants handed out to local govt in 2019 and 2020 when NSW & QLD were at the centre of dry conditions.

Limestone Coast landholders have really got behind the #saveoursoils campaign to protect their land from mining. Less than six months on there are close to 400 signs on fences, front gates etc. Stock Journal stockjournal.com.au/story/8966753/…

Great segment with my brother and sister in law at our farm telling it like it is for so many. I’ve never seen it so dry but my biggest fear is where the state’s fodder is coming from for summer 2025-26. Peter Malinauskas Time to get out and see for yourself facebook.com/share/v/1CSwTq…

Really proud to be on the committee for Australia's largest grassfed beef carcase competition, the Southern Grassfed Carcase Classic. Great fundraiser for Royal Flying Doctor Service too. Last night our $36,000 cheque brought the total raised to nearly $450,000 in 17 years.

Desperate SA livestock producers are thinking outside the box to feed their stock whatever they can get their hands on now hay has run out. Now most of this fodder is up to 1000km away is it time for the govt to extend its freight rebates for charities to all producers?

Catherine Miller Matt McDonald Our elected members should be along for the ride through good times and bad. Definitely some lessons to be learned about that. Tough gig hitting the mark with support. Doesn’t work to capitalise the profits and socialise the losses. (A quote from a wise friend CJ)

Did you know that our industry is worth $4.3 billion? And we support 21,000 jobs across the red meat and wool supply chains - and that’s just in SA.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff at Livestock SA these rules have now been updated. Check pir.sa.gov.au/biosecurity/pl… for the latest version.

Most people think medicine has saved the most lives. But what if I told you that title belongs to something else? Something…unexpected, and why we risk losing the next one 1/13

Catherine Miller Angus Whyte Quinton McCallum Stock Journal Catherine's point about the PM having no idea about top tier farmers in trouble is a good one. This is the issue. The way information moves up and to Ministers is the problem. *Whose job is it*?

Chris and Kevin Whenan gave me some time this week to chat about their enterprise after making $360 for crossbred lambs - a saleyard record at Dublin. Also made $330 for Merino lambs. Getting this out before Tuesday’s sale! Stock Journal stockjournal.com.au/story/8986416/…

One of the most common Q's our Stock Journal readers are asking us is how much of the state govt's $73m drought package has been spent and where. Rest assured we will keep asking until we have some answers from Clare Scriven MLC and PIRSA. stockjournal.com.au/story/9033615/…
