Ben Affleck, Elon Musk, and DIAS Dunsink Observatory all feature in my section on Space Hazards... (Second half of the programme). Catch up via the Newstalk Futureproof webpage if you missed it
Come join us at the third moon-magnetosphere workshop 13-17 May 2024 in Dublin! Registration is now open: indico.esa.int/event/482/ DIAS DIAS Dunsink Observatory DIAS Astronomy & Astrophysics
Well that was a fun day of DIAS Dunsink Observatory on tour Allen National School talking to Juniors, Seniors, 1st and 2nd class about space with the amazing Sadhbh Leahy. Wrestling our props off the naughty elf was the toughest part!
The DIAS Dunsink Observatory elf has been checking up on members of DIAS Astronomy & Astrophysics to report back to the North Pole... And having some fun while doing it!

"You're not an imposter, you're a trailblazer." Our guest editor Dr Nicola Fox ARCHIVED - Dr. Nicky Fox asks Prof Carole Mundell, Director of Science at the European Space Agency, what advice she would give her younger self. Listen back to Dr Fox's #R4Today guest edit on BBC Sounds
We’re not the first to go to the moon but we’re definitely the cheapest… 👀 We interrupt your day with what is a very REAL photo Flight FR2970 (Tenerife to Edinburgh) captured from DIAS Dunsink Observatory Observatory (Dublin) on Jan 18. 📷 Jeremy Rigney
Many thanks to colleagues DIAS Dunsink Observatory @scienceirel Enterprise Ireland Department of Further and Higher Education and scientists from universities across Ireland for the warm welcome to me & my ESA Science team, inspiring conversations and ambition for the future. #Talent #Innovation #Technology #FrontiersOfScience
Just a reminder of last week’s landmark visit of European Space Agency ESA Science Director Carole Mundell @cmundell.esa.int to IE, organised by Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Enterprise Ireland Delegate @PadraigDoolan DIAS Prof. Caitriona Jackman and University College Dublin Lorraine Hanlon and incl. guests from Department of Further and Higher Education @scienceirel, hosted DIAS Dunsink Observatory
Welcome to the latest member of the DIAS Astronomy & Astrophysics Planetary Magnetospheres Group: Dr. Affelia Wibisono has joined us to work on planetary aurorae.. and will bring amazing public engagement experience to DIAS Dunsink Observatory dias.ie/2024/03/04/dr-… Dr Affelia Wibisono
Wonderful to have @scienceirel and We are now Research Ireland staff DIAS Dunsink Observatory today. We even got to see sunspots through the historic Grubb Telescope.
Kicking off the Outer Planet Moon-Magnetosphere Interactions workshop, hosted by the Planetary group DIAS Astronomy & Astrophysics #DIASMoons24
The DIAS Astronomy & Astrophysics Planetary Group celebrated a very successful workshop. Great to host so many international collaborators in Dublin
A spacecraft in flight changes the space about it. A new DIAS Dunsink Observatory study shows that @ESA's Jupiter mission ESA's Juice mission has incurred extensive surface charging, a surrounding cloud of photoelectrons & a 65-m-long wake of ion-free space behind the spacecraft
And lastly, congratulations to Professor Caitriona Jackman, of DIAS Dunsink Observatory, for being awarded an Honorary Fellowship for her "outstanding service and leadership of planetary magnetospheric physics in Ireland, the UK, and internationally". 🥳 👏
