Peter Higgs, RIP. My Science Museum blog, with contributions from Frank Close and Harry Cliff blog.sciencemuseum.org.uk/remembering-pe…
Very sad to hear this. To physicists of all generations, he will always be a great. As an educator in Bristol, I’m glad to know he went to Cotham School, together with his brilliant physicist predecessor, Paul Dirac. Not a bad roster for one school! #AllTimeGreat #PhysicsHero
‘Elusive’ by Frank Close is the closest thing to a biography of Higgs we’ll get. My review of ‘Elusive’ from 2022, exactly ten years after the discovery of the particle named after him amp.theguardian.com/books/2022/jul…
Alan Bates' description of PO as 'Thugs in Suits' will surely go into the lexicon of great quotes. #postofficescandal
If today's #SolarEclipse2024 get's you set for the next one in 2026, here's what you need to know for planning viewing and enjoying the WHOLE experience Oxford Academic
Wow. That brought back memories! The path of that Libyan eclipse in 2006 gets transported 120degrees west, 18years 10+ days later and is the Saros analogue that on Monday crosses Mexico, USA and eastern Canada. Great American Eclipse 🌞🌗🌎
Dont be put off by images of a lunar eclipse; the solar eclipse will put it in the shade.Great American Eclipse 🌞🌗🌎 For the books that inspired the article go to Oxford Academic newyorker.com/science/elemen…
Nice article about solar eclipse and my life experiences of them in The New Yorker bizarrely fronted by images of total LUNAR eclipse. April 8 will put that in the shade Great American Eclipse 🌞🌗🌎 newyorker.com/science/elemen…
Four years ago today Catherine Green produced the first pure vaccine samples, 'the fuzzy band that saved the world'. Thoroughly enjoying the delightful VAXXERS story of the University of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine
