I marched with colleagues from GMB Midlands at Notts Pride today. With LGBT+ communities continuing to come under attack, particularly our trans neighbours, Pride is as important as ever.

I visited Carter Gate today with council staff to listen to local concerns. There's work to do; residents raised issues with waste and green spaces. We’ll be writing out about the work we're doing, including organising a litter pick and making regular visits until it’s sorted.

Notts Pride on Saturday knocked it out of the park with an even bigger, bolder rally than last year. It showed the best of Nottingham and the power of marching with our trans siblings in resistance and for our shared liberation.

We remain concerned about rising violent crime on the canal path. Patrols are being increased, and we’re exploring options for better lighting and CCTV. We'll be meeting with the Canal & River Trust and other partners to look at more responses. nottinghampost.com/news/local-new…

I was in Central Library this morning with council staff, speaking to residents as part of our Future Council Conversations. We were asking the public what they think of council services and what they would change about how we do things. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat!

Every politician has been frustrated by media coverage at some point, but this isn't how you deal with it. Reform has suddenly gained control of a council with no idea how to run it. Instead of grappling with that, they're hiding from any scrutiny of their failings.

Spending today in Nuthall East & Strelley, supporting Broxtowe labour councillors's Domenica Lopinto in today's by-election. The election is a knife edge between Labour and Reform, and the weather is a knife edge between sunny and rainy.

Out this morning with council staff, It's In Nottingham and the universities, taking in Market Square, Long Row, Clumber St, Lincoln St and Clinton St West. We found some issues with waste, fly-tipping and grafitti which we'll be addressing at a day of action on Friday.

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon speaking to residents in Castle Exchange and the rest of Broad Street and Western Street. Spotted some issues with trade waste which have been reported and left contact info in case there are any repeats.

At last week's Notts County Council meeting, Tory leader Sam Smith made some pretty strange claims about Nottingham... If Sam does want to visit the castle, now he knows it's open, he can get a year-long ticket for only £15! He can even book ahead at nottinghamcastle.org.uk/admission

After County Cllrs spread untruths about Nottm, Deputy Leader Cllr Ethan Radford put the record straight, promising 👇 "those neighbouring cllrs who think Nottm city is fair game, I’m putting you on notice. We’ll give as good as we get, & when we do it we use facts not fiction.”

Nottinghamshire County Council is meeting today. Last time, Councillors Sam Smith, Neil Clarke, Teresa Cullen & Steve Carr made factually inaccurate statements about Nottingham City Council. Let's hope they're a little more honest this time! We'll be watching...👀

I spent this afternoon visiting Brightmoor Street and Brightmoor Court with colleagues from the council's housing department. We had a good chat with a couple of residents, noted a few repairs, and talked about some plans to make it an even better place to live for our tenants.

I will fight every day for the tolerant, decent, and respectful Britain I know. If you incite racist violence and hatred, you are an enemy of national renewal.
