At the Autumn Statement, we froze alcohol duty for six months to provide stability for businesses. Today we’re extending the duty freeze further – from Aug 2024 to 1 Feb 2025. Cutting costs for breweries, distilleries, restaurants, nightclubs, pubs & bars.

We should reward smaller businesses who make a big impact on our society & employ millions of people. That's why from April 1, we're increasing the VAT registration threshold from £85,000 to £90,000 - cutting taxes for small businesses across the UK.

To level up we need to boost opportunities for people nationwide. That's why in April our first Investment Zones in the North of England & the Midlands will be launched, with a 10 year package of funding benefitting local skills, R&D, local infrastructure & business investment.

#Budget2024: Furnished holiday lettings regime abolished

From 6 April 2024 the main rate of National Insurance contributions for the self-employed will be reduced from 8% to 6%. Along with the abolition of Class 2 NICs announced at the Autumn Statement. This helps to grow the economy by encouraging people to work.
