Was amazed years back when I read that the M10 self-propelled anti-tank gun had an open turret. Typically, a British anti-tank regiment had two 17-pounder M10 batteries and two towed 17-pounder batteries. (Must refrain from calling it 'Achilles', the troops didn't.)
