Another 600+ page marathon completed. Reading books about places and situations my late Dad encountered in Eighth Army often sends shivers down my spine. This ‘meat grinding’ episode especially. Hard to imagine the gentle, peaceful Dad I knew right at the centre of such mayhem.

Just listened to my daughter Natasha being interviewed on BBC Radio Kent about the SocialEnterpriseKent food project in Ramsgate & Ashford. So proud - the girl’s a natural. I know from experience as a council leader just how tricky those interviews can be. She was simply superb!

Out for a bank holiday stroll in Broadstairs and bumped into Vic Todd on his first ‘day out and about’ following his heart attack. Looking good and in good spirits but obviously needs to pace himself. Gill is keeping a close eye on him and it was great to see him ‘on the mend’.
