Simulation is an amazing tool but we need to consider it's limitations and try to acknowledge the uncertainties our most junior doctors face. Scott Clarke Edinburgh Medical School #amee2019

Including our Edinburgh Clin Ed commentary "Online Learning as Embodied, Socially Meaningful Experience". We argue that trust, relationships, knowing your students & appreciating how digital & non-digital activity are entangled is not only possible but crucial to good online learning.

Thanks Ken Masters for showing the shaky origins of Dale's Cone. But there's a more important reason not to buy into it than lack of evidence: lack of logic. How could these neat numbers possibly be real given the different qualities, purposes, and uses of these methods?

Pleased but torn. Springer ranked my paper link.springer.com/article/10.100… in top 3 in Postdigital Science and Education, but I have a new paper coming out arguing against blindly accepting obscure algorithmic analyses of reductive metrics 😄

Such sad news re Edinburgh EM CSW Jane Murphy who has died from COVID-19. Jane worked in ED when I came to Edinburgh 20 years ago, always had a cheery hello, was there for everybody and introduced me to Haggis sandwiches. She will be very sadly missed. edinburghnews.scotsman.com/health/she-wil…

An interesting conversation came up at the end of day 1 of ESSCE about educational journey vs destination. Means vs ends. Process vs outcome. This was in a #MedEd & health professions context but I’d be interested in thoughts of people in other disciplines / fields.🧵
