To people who tagged the GMC as a threat when I shared my views on the fact I think that MAPs should go to medical school to expand the scope of practice e.g. do what doctors do. GMC referrals carry high mortality & morbidity for doctors. It is vile to threaten anyone with it.

I really do worry people have forgotten what Covid-19 was like for NHS staff. I went onto ICU wards and saw it myself. I spoke to staff broken by relentless death. Dr Kevin Fong testimony UK Covid-19 Inquiry needs to be heard:

Latest paper looks at why people leave #NHS roles People give multiple reasons for leaving (not just one) We have started to see supervisory burden and taskification emerge as contributory factors. Distress, overwork & understaffing were common rdcu.be/dVtUO

60% of staff leaving the NHS say that distress/mental health is their reason for doing so. The service must urgently address this damning statistic by implementing meaningful strategies to support workers. After all they've given, this is the very least that needs to happen.

In a heroic move, Gisele Pelicot fought to make public the videos of her unconscious rapes at the hands of over 50 men and won. She wanted the public “to look rape straight in the eyes.” Shame, she said, must change sides —from the victims to the perpetrators. Police found more

This is a heartbreaking watch Since founded in 2020 Frontline19 has provided free counselling & psychological support to over a million NHS & frontline workers. The incredible work they do is vital & important. Please support them if you can🙏❤️

This is an important read. We need to talk about suicide, especially suicide within the healthcare profession. Please look out for your colleagues’ mental health 💙

1/ Let me tell you a story of the first time I realised the NHS really doesn’t care about us. When I was in F2 I was doing a renal job and had interviews for training posts (ACF). I had three interviews, and one of them (Cambridge) fell in the middle of a run of nights.

This is my first payslip after I qualified. My take-home pay in Aug 2011 was about £2084, which is around £3072 adjusted for inflation today. A current FY1 on a medium-intensity rota takes home £2140 — that’s literally about £50 “more”, eroded also by 14 yrs of inflation. 1/n

IMO contract reform we should be fighting for: 1- OOH pay should start from 5pm (Currently it starts from 7pm?!) 2-Full time should = 40 hrs (like everyone else in the NHS) Working 40 hrs should not be LTFT with capped AL this is such a scam 3-Exam & royal collage fees paid
