Has anyone else done any work on Joyce and Bow Bells? (My day of Googling hasn’t found much, besides Budgen mentioning Bow Bells in the Making of Ulysses. But I may just be rubbish at Googling.)

So, I’m finding lots of women as defective stuff, and lots of ‘a bad woman is worse than a bad man’, but no ‘a defect is ten times worse in a woman’ 🤔

Any advice on how to save a flood-damaged copy of Finnegans Wake?! 😢 The flood waters have never entered my writing shed before. This is really not good.

Why am I so bad at writing conclusions?! I’ve been writing them nearly 20 years, and it never gets any easier. Agghhhh!

That thing where you were worried you don’t have enough to say for an 8,000 word article, then you write the thing, and you end up with over 10k words and have to spend ages cutting it down. Yeah, that! #modwrite

Do you know what’s really lovely? Being able to credit fab scholars for genuinely inspiring your thinking. I’m finishing an article on Ulysses, disability, womanhood & identification, and I’ve drawn on 2 talks from this past summer: one by Dr Sophie Corser & one by @ShinjiniChatto2. 🙏

Joyceans… Does anyone happen to have a copy of Roy Gottfried’s Joyce’s Iritis book to hand? I need to check a page reference. I know it’s from Benstock’s foreword. It’s ‘methodology composed of classical philology […] and contemporary linguistic approaches’. 🙏
