There's still time to see this amazing exhibition featuring a model of two old shops on the corner of Hampden Street, kindly loaned to us by ClementsHallHistoryG. Here is a photograph of Stephen Coates who built the model. The exhibition will be up until the end of June.

I've been writing up my researches into scoria bricks in our back alleys in York. These feature in NE England, made from recycled ironworks slag. But why are there so many back alleys in the north but not in terraced streets in London and the south? Does anyone know?
