Lots of reflections from #sbc2025 that are all over the map. It tells me that people care. We need people who care about our future. That's a good thing.

The local church is not a weekly event of which you attend. The local church is a daily family to which you belong.

Baptists have always had a tenuous connection to creeds and confessions. Whatever our future holds, I pray we are more confessional and not less. I pray we are not merely, but mostly Baptist.

Didn't escape, but had fun. Also a great incubator for family conflict 😂

About done reading Bainton's biography on Martin Luther. The author just discussed the Marburg Colloquy and I can't help but to think what it would've been like to be in the room with these specific reformers. And to think, we have their signatures. Amazing

For all the present talk of "following the ways of Jesus," what seems missing is the eschatological reality of anticipating the second coming of Christ. We are to "eagerly await" His coming (Phil. 3:20) and to be on the alert (Matt 25:13). Let's live with one foot raised.

Ideological leaders are vital to a flourishing evangelicalism. But the need of the hour is for great organizational leaders who can build evangelical institutions and develop others towards a comprehensive vision for human flourishing under the Lordship of Christ.

We are at a crossroads for sure. The next decade will be vitally important for the SBC as we ensure our confessional fidelity and missional faithfulness. A new generation will be called upon to take the helm and lead us into the future.
