I started Yoruba lessons and wondered why people don’t include the accents (é, ò, etc) on letters when they type in Yoruba on social media/texts? Without the accents there’s no indication of how to pronounce the words 😭 so if I read it out loud I’m likely pronouncing it wrong

For example, Asake is Àṣàkẹ́ Oruko is Orúkọ Akinlaja is Akínlàjà

I need to learn to write faster, someone has already done a write-up on the slawn x kaws situation and I’m still putting two and two together

You must also understand that people who can’t speak English aren’t illiterates, English is a language like all other languages. Inability to speak a language does not mark your intellectual capacity.

This reminds me of when my mum got told by staff working at my nursery that I never seemed to rush and push to pick snacks like the other kids. She said it’s because she knows that she can ask for anything she wants at home and get it. This is just scarcity mentality playing out.
