I'm reading letters I wrote to my parents the year we moved to Houston. I honestly don't know HOW I managed. We had NO money.
Looking out my windows at beautiful blooming redbud trees that just grew up by themselves in my woods. Also dogwood, tiny green beginnings.
I am sitting at my computer, looking at at the rain, dogwood, redbud, forest. Feeling a bit wistful and sad.
Sat with some ultra right wing Republicans at the Yacht Club Commissioning tonight. They complained loudly about Obama's high taxes. What?!
I am working on a memoir to prepare for the BBC documentary on Apollo wives. This way I hope to remember more from those years SO LONG AGO.
Just wrote John a "Dear John letter." Diana will be pleased. She said I was "leading him on."
Just got home from 10 days in Colorado. Randy went with me to the Conference on World Affairs at CU. It was REALLY INTERESTING.
Tomorrow Daddy is giving me a Birthday Breakfast Party at Canterbury; then I'm off to Scottsdale, AZ for the BBC filming of the Apollo wives
Just returned from BBC filming. Show to be aired on 40th anniversary of lunar landing July 20. Nice to see Jane Conrad Dreyfus.
Just home from a WONDERFUL weekend at "The Mountain" Unitarian retreat near Highlands NC with my Modern Mind class, philosophers all!
Am determined to sort out the mass of stuff on and around my desk. Not fun.
I was lonely on Mother's Day. I live too far away from my children.
Going over to see Grandfather this morning. It has rained here A LOT. With high winds. My yard is a mess. Waiting for my yardman.
Ready to practice for G-Stringers performance at Vassar '59's reunion. Having a party here Sat. nite; may sing my songs then. l
Mimi Lee is visiting me. This morning we went to The Botanical Garden and then stopped at Fat Matt's and bought DELICIOUS barbecue.
Getting ready to fly to New York tomorrow for a show, dinner with friends, and on to Vassar to sing with the G-Stringers.
Getting ready for the Whitfield reunion. Food to cook, planes to meet, beds to make. Will sorely miss the missing members.
Very difficult interchange with Daddy. Left feeling shattered
Great family reunion, quiet interim, then fun 4th of July at Allatoona with Angelika and her daughter and grandchildren.
Now we are preparing for Grandfather's memorial service. Randolph Whitfield lived a long and productive life, a courtly Southern gentleman.
