A delight to chair this panel! Lots to consider re. connections between materiality and value: how might producing a written sermon or psalm enhance/diminish its spiritual value? How might valuations & perceptions of metals permeate literary discourse? #rethinkingobjects

I'm delighted that Christopher Warren joined my hunt for James Cottrell and his dodgy G's! I love the side-by-side images of letters in this thread- what a cool way of fragmenting texts in order to read them for new kinds of meaning & evidence. 📚

This morning I am enjoying not one, not two, but THREE vases bursting with sorbet-coloured tulips. These guys are great company.

A lot of my thesis has been written listening to this: an album that stimulates growth in plants and pages about seventeenth-century print. 🌱

Guys, I passed! I’m grateful to my examiners Ramona and Clare Egan for making today so enjoyable, and to my supervisors Hilary Hinds and Jo Carruthers for all their encouragement over the past 3.5 years. It’s not quite how we imagined viva day would look- but, it’s done! 🥳

Proofs returned for Transplantation Gothic, forthcoming from Manchester UP on Halloween! Incredible editorial support from Claire McGann, the best proofreader and indexer I’ve ever worked with.

The overturning of Roe v Wade is an assault on women’s human rights, their lives, and their families. The UK government and Liz Truss CANNOT remain silent as women's human rights are breached. Take action: wetrustwomen.uk/take-action/

My Copim community colleagues have just published this response to UKRI’s new open access book policy. In which we praise its “explicit recognition…of the importance of Diamond OA publishing”, but raise some questions…

There's been a lot of talk abt #OpenAccess books in light of the REF, some of it showing that myths about OA books are still prevalent & understood as absolute fact. E.g. I saw a comment that #OA is impossible for art history books, because you can't get the image rights. 1/
