For Nadia Fdez de Pinedo, communication is key. Written & verbal communication can lead to misinterpretation, as we don’t share a common vocabulary. We use the same words, with different meaning. Cultural sensitivity training is needed to enhance skills to support diverse staff and students.

#SMARTT has identified the development of curricular modules as a way to introduce the needed skills for multilingual, diverse programmes. Nadia Fdez de Pinedo point out the resistance to change among national agencies, staff and academics who think #EDL will increase administrative burden.
