🧵Last summer in a tiny chateau some hour drive from Warsaw, we gathered absolutely top security & strategy experts from Europe & the U.S. We locked ourselves in for few days, trying to answer a simple question: how we can manage living alongside aggressive Russia for yrs to come

Russian forces continue attacks in eastern Ukraine, increasing the number and scale of mechanized assaults. In recent days, Russian drone and missile strikes have been deliberately targeting the critical infrastructure of the city of Kharkiv cisukraine.substack.com/p/russia-ukrai…

Russia attacked Ukraine cause Moscow saw Washington vulnerable. Iran attacked Israel cause Tehran saw Washington vulnerable. Foreign policy isn't US academic theory or MS Excel charts. Perception matters, and the US is rapidly losing credibility. Ukraine is a point of reference

🧵 This is already making rounds, so I will try to shed some more light on March/April 2022 Ukraine-Russia talks since the article is still far from the point, and because Poland played a much bigger role than anyone is willing to admit publicly foreignaffairs.com/ukraine/talks-…

So, West cannot produce enough shells, but also cannot find money to buy shells. Czech initiative still did not get all the money. West, whose GDP is 27 times greater than russia cannot find money to buy 800.000 shells. Third year of war. I was that disappointed only in March ‘22

There are no "annexations" of Ukrainian territories. Ukraine is an independent and sovereign state with internationally recognized borders of 1991. Thus, the only correct way to name this is "temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine" ✅

What we are seeing today is a coordinated effort to blame Ukraine for the failure of the 2022 talks. This is ignorance at best, at worst - a deliberate action to influence the Western public opinion to undermine support for further assistance to Ukraine [END]

Vladimir Putin appointed Sergei Shoigu as Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, replacing Nikolai Patrushev. Andrei Belousov, former First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, will become the new Minister of Defense. cisukraine.substack.com/p/russia-ukrai…

Biden people are in constant contact with Russia. A peace deal would be almost impossible to negotiate now, unless Russian cost-benefit calculus changes. The US isn't doing even half of what Ukraine wants them to do. Go home

With the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Central Asian countries proclaimed a position of neutrality, calling on both Russian and Ukrainian sides for a “political-diplomatic settlement of the conflict”. analytics.intsecurity.org/en/geopolitica…

Its needs to be understood that keeping sanctions on Russia is not about punishing Russians--its about limiting the Russian war machine's productive capacity--which saves Ukrainian lives and can lead to the defeat of Putin. If you are arguing for sanctions to be lifted, you are

So apparently the official Ukrainian army can full on occupy Kursk Oblast and Russia still won't make good on it's empty nuclear sabre rattling or escalate in any way. But using long range missiles on Russian air bases would definitely trigger WW3 or something. Seems legit.

#TheRussianCrisis was provoked by Putin's regime and their sponsors in Beijing. Russia ignored Ukraine's legitimate security interests. The Moscow junta should seek a peaceful solution through its demilitarisation and neutrality. Chinese support for Russia only prolongs the war

Every day, Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz. Every day, President Biden. You could stop this slaughter, but every day you choose not to give Ukraine the weapons & ability to strike the Russian military sites that launch these murderous attacks. This is the only red line, drawn in Ukrainian blood.
