Take Aim at the Police Van (1960: Seijun Suzuki: Japan): I remember an interview from Tarantino one time where he said he liked individual scenes from Suzuki movies more than the films themselves. That is an apt description for this movie. Jeffrey Damien 🦇

The Goat (1921) - Top notch early Buster Keaton short finds him chased by cops and constantly picking the wrong hiding place, while mistaking inanimate objects for animate and vice versa (plus the greatest Looney Tunes elevator bits of all time). All killer, no filler.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000) - I so rarely watch a film that improves on a book, this one blows the source material away. Kawajiri completely rejiggers the third act, leans heavily into the gothic romance while tamping down the sleaze. Gorgeous print Alamo Drafthouse NYC

Remember when Brian Yuzna's Spanish, short-lived genre house Fantastic Factory produced the nunsploitation slasher THE NUN (2005)? I wonder how many folks watched this by mistake when the 2018 movie came out... 📿

listening to the Highlander commentary track for the first time. Russell Mulcahy says that the rain in the car park 'makes no sense, but it looks good,' and he's absolutely right

People, when you’re repping a giant prismatic bug god, you gotta come correct with the color and the prints. You need some goddamn style!

It's always a bit of a shock when you only learn someone has passed away from the in memoriam segment, in this case editor Peter Cheung. He practically cut every Golden Harvest movie ever (not hyperbole).

Iron Angels (1987) Dir Teresa Woo. Stars Moon Lee, Elaine Lui, Oshima Yukari & Alex Fong. After sufferering the disappointment that only sports can provide, it’s back to the joy of FUbruary and what better slice of happiness is there than this (aka Fighting Madam).
