But today is set aside by The Church of England to celebrate the life of William Wilberforce. Born 24 Aug 1759, and died 29 Jul 1833. He played a key role in the abolition of slavery, fighting for the Abolition Bill in UK Parliament UK House of Commons for 20 years.
