Rather than walking round the reservoir Phoebe Bridgers style I ran. Glad I did as it flew off just before I got there and flew past me heading north. Crane at Island Barns Res. Later seen over Richmond Park. Thanks to Darren Spragg and Dave Harris. SurreyBirdClubNews

wildsurrey.com/post/moth-extr… Anybody fancy an amazing week's moth trapping in Scotland this August? Still a few places available. It's going to be fantastic.

Felt very mothy last night so stuck the trap out. This Vestal was the stand out highlight. A first for my tiny suburban garden in Surbiton. Surrey Moths

Well that was a nice surprise. After two weeks flogging around Foula with little to show for it news of the Yellow Warbler at Hoswick broke as we were heading for the plane. One of my most wanted. Wonderful. Nature in Shetland BirdGuides

Caught up with a few Waxwing this winter. The birds in Bushy Park have been the most satisfying particularly when dropping down to a puddle to drink. London Bird Club

Sounds like it’s been a good day for the inland patch worker. No Arctic or Black Terns for me but 12 yellow wag, 2 Barwits, Greenshank, 5 Common Sand and lots of hirindines and swifts at Island Barn Res and environs. One of the wagtails. SurreyBirdClubNews Surbiton Bird Club

The local Cuckoo didn’t think much of the interloper. Soon got back to a favourite perch once it had seen it off. Walton this afternoon. Oddly no Red-backed Shrikes yet. SurreyBirdClubNews
