Today marks the #Equilux. The point at which day and night are equal. From tomorrow. The days become longer than the nights. Whereas the #Equinox occurs on Thursday. This is where the sun is directly above the Equator and marks the start of astronomical #Spring 🌱

#WarmestDayOfTheYear so far, although it's much cooler across the Scotland and eastern coastal areas of the UK (Met Office to firm up this evening once all the data is in)

Thank you so much Chris Page - Weatherman for showing my photo of Betty celebrating St George’s Day. I think the change of date caught a lot of people out this year. Chuffed that Betty featured. Julie 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Temperatures are already higher than yesterday and continue to climb. Currently 25.0C St James Park, London. There's scope for 28C today, warmer still tomorrow. If we reach 30C tomorrow somewhere in the UK, this will be the earliest 30C will have been recorded in the year

Every country is warming. Every country is experiencing more extreme weather events because of climate change, mainly caused by burning fossil fuels. Time to #ShowYourStripes and start climate conversations to prompt actions to reduce emissions. ShowYourStripes.info

BC is back for a special Birthday Club reunion. Watch my chat with Anglia Television’s Helen McDermott and of course the naughty bear. It’s all for ITV’s 70th birthday 🎂 You can see it all on ITVX - just go to categories, then news and finally ITV News Anglia 📺

#Spain and #Portugal's southern regions are expected to face an unbearable heatwave this coming weekend, with the heat index potentially exceeding 50°C (122°F) in some areas. #Climate change threatens to push these already arid areas into desertification. #ClimateCrisis

1°C of global warming does NOT mean that heatwaves 'just' get hotter by 1°C. Over large parts of the UK, global warming means that heatwaves are 3-4°C warmer, with worse consequences for people and ecosystems.
