I am a single issue voter and my issue is removing this type from any position of authority, at every level of society, from the FTC down to the local school board. I never again want to hear a glorified hall monitor talk about “letting” free men achieve great things.

It’s time for common sense machete reform.

We need education that treats “problem-solving” as aspirational. Most kids today will go through school (and life) never even being exposed to the idea that you can use your talents to solve problems for people. The result is a society that creates more problems than it solves.

A previously homeschool kid joined my public school in 9th grade. His maturity was closer to a college student. He had interests outside of our absurd colloquial status games. People said he was weird. I remember wanting to shout at them "Can you not see it? WE are weird!"

Caved in and got the 11yo a phone. Within a week he’s acquired a girlfriend and organized a beach hangout with his friends. Starting to think the “phones are ruining the young people” narrative is a red herring.

Many warnings about“short form” content making people dumb. I don’t think so. It’s just like loud music. Only the simple can tolerate it.

The best use of an elite diploma is to use your status as elite diploma holder to help others gain elite status who can then in turn help others gain status ad infinitum. A completely closed system.

It’s controversial but I think you could fix American education entirely by paying kids to learn. Outlaw grades and homework. Only standardized tests. Pay kids to raise scores. $1,000 per grade level in math and English. Do 3 grade levels in 3 months, earn $3k.

There are two types of school. One that must satisfy parents. And one that must make up for lack of engaged parents. One is an educational environment, the other more like a loosely managed zoo.

Friend of mine took his dog to a private equity owned vet and, I am not making this up, they recommended his dog get braces. You almost have to admire the chutzpah.
