I am OVER THE MOON for the #Pulitzer finalists Jennifer Chang and Danez Smith and winner Marie Howe. All incredible books, all incredible poets. Wow. What a year!

Marie Howe won the Pulitzer this year for her NEW & SELECTED (W. W. Norton & Company). I'm so thrilled her poems have been recognized in this way. She's an incredible poet, & an incredible human. Here's a poem from WHAT THE LIVING DO that still leaves me speechless.

"Unlike narrative, the engine of poetry is not causation, but association. Verse essentializes, but it also complicates and constellates, and in complicating something, we confer onto it meaning." An excellent essay by Adrienne Chung.

Incredibly saddened by Alice Notley's passing. Her vision, innovation, the transformative force & tenderness & curiosity & imagination of her work. & the hour-long reading she gave at the Univ. of Denver when I was there set alight so many poetic fires. 🖤🖤🖤

There are few poems I adore & respect more than this miraculous & deeply moving poem by W.S. Merwin, which is the last poem in his last collection, Garden Time (Copper Canyon Press).

Yes. Yes, it is. The emissions, water consumption, and resource extraction needed for A.I. makes using it reprehensible from a climate standpoint. We have to resist A.I. as much as we can! nytimes.com/2025/06/16/mag…

A new poem in SIR that interrogates the ways that fossil fuel corporations have used "we" and "us" to poison climate discourse & responsibility. I'm really proud of this one & hope it reaches far. Many thanks to the editors.

Incredibly put, Morris! And it is indeed a haunted emptiness that Dominick's use of AI depicts. That said, I don't think it should've been made. Surely something utilizing archival footage/photography could harness and project the nightmarishness of Cave's incomparable song.

I'm profoundly excited to have two poems in the new issue of Quarterly West, guest edited by Jess, called "Extreme Environments." And don't miss Tanck's excellent intro!
