It's easy to see the areas that actually have gotten some rain. Look what that rain cooled air does to the temperatures!

Remember that potential tropical system that we were watching last week along the Gulf coast? It moved inland and back out to the Atlantic. It's looping back around to the Gulf. Just something to watch for now. It has a 10% chance for tropical development.

I know we are focusing on the Weather Impact Alert for high heat next week near 100 degrees. However, I do want to look ahead to let you know we do have some relief on the way for the first week of August with "likely cooler" temperatures moving in.

Athens officially hits the triple digits. That's the air temp. The heat index is at 108 there.

We missed the triple digits in Atlanta today by 1 degree. Our official high so far is 99.

Second day in a row at 99 degrees in Atlanta. Heat index at 4pm is 104.

It's official. Atlanta hit 100 degrees around 4:40pm this afternoon. This is the first 100 degree temp in ATL in over a year.
