Good luck with that Ladies!!! Simon Harris TD possesses neither a calendar nor, apparently, a budget. Enjoy the platitudes but don’t expect any actual “action” from the “action plan”. GPs have been waiting for 5+ years for a new contract and we’re getting fat on unmet “promises”.

Medical Independent Niamh Cahill Duffy Dispersement is a proof of failure to find a GP replacement and nothing to be proud of as a management tool. It’s looking like 10% of retirees. This will worsen as services weaken (thin out) and residual GPs get worn out.

1/2 Continued confusion caused by Simon Harris. “It is delivering the new GP contract, which I hope the negotiations will conclude in the coming days” says harris This is grossly misleading. He has repeatedly stated we WILL NOT be getting a new contact irishtimes.com/news/politics/…

2/2. We will be getting “bolt ons” to the current 50 year old contract. This is not sláintecare. This is not reform. This will not save General Practice. Please stop using the term new GP contract. It is false and misleading Dr Michael Harty TD Róisín Shortall @DonnellyStephen Louise O’Reilly TD for Dublin Fingal West

We were told that nobody advised against the Minister/Department of Health offering an out of cycle smear test. Earlier this year I reported that was untrue. Here is what Prof Grainne Flannelly has to say:

I wish I could say I was surprised by Simon Harris TD misleading us all. GPs have years of experience of his incompetence and broken promises. Unfortunately his word does not mean much

Even IF a new deal is agreed (& a very big IF) there is no suggestion that this is a new contract & must not be reported as such. GPs will still be operating a 47 y. old contract & be subject to ministerial whim re:FEMPI. It will take a lot more to sustain/re-vitalise service

The lowest number of consultants in OECD & the longest waiting lists. GP in crisis. The list goes on. You would be forgiven for thinking that health is unfixable. Some politicians push that narrative: it absolves their inaction. I believe we can go from where we are now to (1)

Sad that the political emphasis is always on providing ‘free GP care’ to well children instead of providing properly funded GP services to ill people such as this poor man. It’s just plain wrong. Practically every GP practice in the country closed to new pts due to these policies

I have reported multiple structural deficiencies in our health service over 26 years-verbally, in writing, in the media and in the Seanad. I have NEVER done it via an incident report. Inappropriate mechanism. Taoiseach please apologise to the pathologists.

We are hopeful that a deal with one of the largest Trade Unions in Ireland could be completed within weeks - ensuring a strong voice for GPs will continue into the future imt.ie/news/tragic-wi… Andrew Jordan Priscilla Lynch Fergal Bowers Irish Medical News Irish Medical Times @NAGPIrl
