Flashback Friday: Class 31 No. 31219 approaches Farringdon station passing under Clerkenwell Road bridge, with empty stock heading to Moorgate, in March 1977. Today, the platforms are longer and the BR to LT crossover has gone.

In April 1989 issue of The Railway Magazine was a feature where 150mph trains - Battersea Bullet' would take passengers from Victoria to a new Battersea leisure complex at the power station in 3 mins.

An April fool?

No, a genuine plan killed off by 1990s recession.

Off the cuff question…..

Anyone know if freight trains still run along N and S Mason St, Fort Collins, Colorado? And roughly how many per day?

Night out tonight with Mrs M to see the Illegal Eagles tribute band. Finished their 2nd set with the classic Hotel California. Sound on phone doesn’t do the guys justice.

They are touring theatres etc, Terrific gig, solid recommendation from me. Guarantee you’ll be dancing!

Flashback Friday: A combination of a flashback and a ‘Where Is It?

14XX No. 1450 on a private photo charter on September 5, 1997, but where is it?

A clue - the location is not a heritage railway, and today the buildings provide holiday accommodation.

Flashback Friday: What could have been.....
Regional Eurostar set No. 3301/2 passes Tamworth LL in April 1996 on a test run from Manchester International depot.

Plans for regional trains from north of London were killed off by the rapid growth of budget airlines.

Two Carabao cup final specials at Atherstone - 86101 for LSL and 86259 which looks stunning with blue & greys for West Coast.

Both trains were diverted via Earlestown due to OLE issues near Runcorn, the WCR special running west from Liv Sth Pkwy to Edge Hill initially.

Nice chalked farewell message on the front of 92214 at Rothley Great Central Railway on its final day in steam before a boiler overhaul. Very reminiscent of the last working on a line in BR days.

Had a look at the Brigg line today, with its freight divisions.

Good to report this working, 2H00 1320 Cleethorpes-Sheffield was very well patronised, seen here at Kirton Lindsey. ⁦The Independent Brigg Line Rail Group (Est 2012)
