Totally expecting the Falcons to take a punter here…

Planning and organizing is crucial for athletic administration. I used an individual sport summary page like this to have all the data and information for each sport available. This was what we went over with the Head Coach at pre and postseason meetings.

Why is anyone surprised by the Falcons pick?

They had a chance to get the best coach ever and the best defensive player in the draft.

They got neither.

Everyone wants to be the leader until they have to have the hard conversations and make the difficult decisions. Leadership is not easy.

A common mistake leaders make is assuming everyone is as invested in success as them. Keep in mind that your minimum effort will be their maximum effort. Raise the ceiling on your minimum and increase their maximum.

Some people are going to dislike you no matter what. Quit trying to please everyone. Just do the best you can. Trying to please everyone will please no one.

Find your circle. Find people that you can talk to about issues, bounce ideas off, etc. This can be very helpful in working through the day-to-day grind. You can be much less reactionary when you find your circle.
