Abled folk believe the disability benefits system is too lenient and too easy, based on nothing but ignorance and rhetoric. Disabled people are telling you that it’s the exact opposite, based on their own experiences. I know which one I believe.

The owner of my car isn’t me. It’s the Motability charity. I just lease it from them, spending my higher-rate Mobility PIP, which I’d get into my bank account if it didn’t go to leasing the car. At the end of the lease, the car goes back to Motability. I own nothing.

It's important to note #Motability doesn't give us #disabled extra money or free cars, nor is it available to all disabled. It's only supplied to those with higher rate #PIP, & we sacrifice that monthly to lease, not buy, a car. No extra money, no free car. Facts matter.

Frances Ryan It was set up as a way to balance out the inaccessibility of transport in a society that was so inaccessible. Cheaper to give people a tiny amount than make everything accessible. Now we find a place where things are still inaccessible but we're being scapegoated too.

There are lots of nasty front pages blaming welfare claimants for the budget and stoking division. Social media will be especially toxic, so do consider either blocking and muting with joyful abandon, or giving yourself a full digital sabbatical. You have done nothing wrong. JayX

These spaces have no formal definition meaning they have no minimum standards... that meant that my disabled kid was locked alone in an empty storeroom. The use of these spaces is undocumented therefore unregulated. Some are supervised, some are not. #RemoveTheRoom

MLAs know or should know that people with visual impairments rely on #ALTtext to make twitter images accessible to them but many still do not provide it. More consideration and action needed!

When cancer patients had their red flag cancer ops cancelled during covid I said that we were crossing a moral red line that would be difficult to step back over again. We've somehow normalised failing time-critical cancer patients who will suffer terrible consequences.

We need 24/7 LD nurses who are trained, confident and effective. We need dedicated LD wards. We need an end to scattering people with complex LD across hospitals with staff who don’t understand them. It’s exhausting, traumatising and unsafe. The system has to change 🪡

Who could possibly have predicted that Flu+Covid in a warm, wet winter, when vaccinations didn’t start until 2weeks later than usual, and when vaccination eligibility is reduced is going to cause havoc…
