My new book, THE TENTH MISTAKE OF HANK HOOPERMAN, has a personal origin story.

When I was a kid, my parents struggled with the kinds of demons Hank and Boo's mom is dealing with. My big brother stepped in to take care of me. In many ways, the book is inspired by those memories.

She partly inspired Natalie, a character with autism in my #TalesFromAlcatraz series. Gina had autism, and she is one reason why I believe strongly in portraying neuroatypical characters in my books. ❤️
