This #BlackHistoryMonth, meet Karel, a Medical Photographer who is making healthcare imagery more inclusive. The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS FT project addresses a crucial gap in healthcare imagery – the shortage of photographs available to clinicians that show conditions on darker skin tones.


Hundreds of newborns are being tested for 200+ genetic conditions in a world-leading NHS study screening 100,000 babies. Led by Genomics England & NHS England, it uses genome sequencing to detect conditions early, helping families like Joshua’s. england.nhs.uk/2024/10/first-…
