Notice anything about the doors leading in to the Lincoln crypt at the Lincoln Memorial, Oak Ridge Cemetery? They don't hang on hinges. During the early 1930s remodel, they were installed as pocket doors. And now you know!

Flight 93 Memorial-it’s an emotional experience and I’m thankful to have been able to visit and pay my respects to all those passengers and crew who perished at the hands of terrorists. Listening to a few of the phone calls placed by passengers aboard Flight 93 to loved ones

Apparently I had something better to do and I missed posting this death announcement on Tuesday. Better late than never. On September 10, 1842, Letitia Tyler passed away in the WH (1 of 3 FLs) due to complications arising from a stroke. Her death made John Tyler the first

The operating room at the Pan American Exposition used for McKinley's operation. Doctors were unsuccessful locating the bullet. During the operation, one doctor held a mirror to direct sunlight onto the surgical site.😬

#OTD in #history, 1620, the #Mayflower began its voyage to the “New World.” It was funded by merchants hoping to prosper from #America's resources. Onboard were #Pilgrims, tradesmen, indentured servants, and crew. All hoped for opportunity, many to freely practice their religion.

Sarcophagi (a few of many) of the Habsburgs, found in the Imperial Crypt at Capuchin Church (it has a modest exterior), Vienna, Austria. These are master pieces of design, craftsmanship, metalwork, and detail. I've not come across such elaborate pieces of art.
