🗣| TED style talks Our programme of TED style talks continued this week with Isobelle presenting: "The Industrial Revolution And Its Consequences Have Been A Disaster For The Human Race" A really fascinating topic. Well done to Isobelle!

👩‍⚖️| Year 12 Law Talks Last week, Year 12 law students listened to a presentation by Hempsons, a Manchester based law firm. This week, they were visited by representatives from the Law degree at The University of Salford. Students noted that they found both talks insightful.

👩‍⚖️ | Bar Mock Trial Competition Having secured a place in the final of the prestigious Bar Mock Trial Competition, a group of our Year 12 and 13 students travelled to the Royal Courts of Justice in London at the weekend. Well done to all the students involved!

🗣 | Laurus Launchpad During Laurus Launchpad, our Year 12 students heard from a range of Local Councillors representing the Labour, Conservative, Green and Liberal Democrat parties; it was really interesting to hear their different viewpoints.

🎓| HE+ Residential A group of students on the HE+ Programme attended a residential at Cambridge University , staying overnight at Clare College. They attended subject taster sessions, museum workshops, college tours and received helpful advice on making competitive applications.

🧪 | Chemistry Olympiad Six of our Year 13 students competed in the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad. This is a very challenging competition that features chemistry well beyond the A Level specification. All 6 students received a certificate; 2 bronze, 3 silver and 1 gold.

🗣 | Sixth Form Speaking Competition A group of Year 12 students competed in a speaking competition, delivering speeches centred around matters of a genuine interest and importance to them. Congratulations to our winners Ava, George and Milly and well done to all students!

🏅 | Student Success Congratulations to Josh for his continued success in Irish Dancing! Over the Easter break, Josh competed in the World championships, retaining his top 20 world placing. Josh also auditioned for Lord of the Dance, dancing solo in front of Michael Flatley!

🚶‍♀️| Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Wishing our Year 12 students the very best of luck with their practice walk and overnight camp in the Hope Valley this weekend. Fingers crossed for good weather!

🗣| Laurus Launchpad During Laurus Launchpad this morning Year 12 students engaged with a talk delivered by Mrs Bowe on the idea of inclusivity, with a particular focus on the recent ruling by the Supreme Court on the interpretation of the Equality Act 2010.

🗣| Voice and Confidence Workshops Thank you to Tom Morrison, Voice and Confidence consultant, who joined us to deliver a series of workshops to some of our Year 12 students. The workshops will benefit the students in their future university and apprenticeship interviews.

🍰 |Sixth Form Cabinet Charity Bake Sale This week our Cabinet held a fabulous bake sale raising £154 to help fund some of the exciting plans they have for the year ahead. Well done to the Cabinet for organising and everybody who baked or supported the event!
