What a day! Chessington KCFC are back!!

On a bit of a whim we decided to try and relaunch Chessington KCFC this season in the Surrey South Eastern Combination. Players ranging from 16-50, of differing standards, largely unknown to each other. If day 1 is anything to go by it is a 100% great decision! So proud of what happened today!

Result: Chessington KCFC 3 NPLFC ‘A side’ 2. Our opening game in the Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Shield resulted in a 3-2 win against a decent NPL side. 5-5 may have been a fair result but we hung on for a famous victory. 😂 Matt Moffatt with a brilliant hat-trick! ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️

The big game today saw Chessington KCFC run out 2-1 winners on a tricky pitch v Mitcham Park FC. Chessington dominated the 1st half, going 2-0 up through Harvey and Josh T but #Mitcham had a much better second 45 and reduced the deficit. We held on and picked up an opening 3 pts!!

Another fantastic day in the ☀️ with Chessington KCFC yesterday. A 3-0 win v Warlingham FC Res with goals from Sternie, MOTM Harvey and a belter from Ross! The pitch at ChessingtonCC was as good as we’ve known it.

Ultimately a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Motspur Park in a game of few chances. Josh C with an excellent goal to put us ahead early but we couldn’t maintain the quality or momentum and conceded an OG and a free-kick. Plenty to learn for our new side but lots to be encouraged by.

A 2-2 draw with Wanderers FC (Dulwich) today. A game of 2 halves with Chessington KCFC 2-0 up at HT and then pinned back in the second half. Both goals from Charlie W! Another point in the bag! The adventure continues ……

Our little cup run continues with a 3-0 home win over Dorking Cobblers. In reality it could / should have been more but goals from Harvey, Matt (pen) and Geraint secured the comfortable win. Good luck to Dorking for the season - they never gave up!

A 4-1 defeat to Tooting Bec FC B today. As good as we’ve been 1st half with a brilliant organised, disciplined performance, saw us go in at 1-1, with a goal from Harvey. 2nd half we faded and oppo’s quality shone through. Well deserved victory for Tooting but an encouraging game.

A great turnaround from 1-0 down at HT to beat Warlingham FC Res 4-1. Goals from Griff Akai (pen), Jack, Ross and Charlie.

In 1st game of 2023 we were beaten by the better team as we lost 5-2 to NPLFC. In reality we could have scored 5 ourselves but NPLFC could also have scored more! Goals from Moff and an amazing take down and finish from Jack. Luka was excellent in goal including a penalty save.

We progressed to Round 3 of the Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Cup with a comfortable 4-1 win vs Frenches Athletic FC 🏆 ‘A’ side. Goals: Moff ⚽️⚽️ Griff Akai ⚽️ and OG ⚽️. Big Ollie twice cruelly denied his maiden goal for the club, first by an oppo player slotting the OG then by a linesman’s 🚩. 😂

A rather frustrating 0-0 game with AFC North Leatherhead on a tough pitch. Their GK was a clear man of the match as we failed to put away our chances although the oppo could have snatched it late on missing a glorious 1v1. Another point in the bag and an enjoyable afternoon.

A first half 5 goal blitz saw us pick up 3 points with a 5-2 win over Southern Athletic FC at the fortress ChessingtonCC. Moff with ⚽️⚽️ and ⚽️ each from Ross, Rory and Josh C. MOTM Rory Kinnaird.

A shame today as we lost the Surrey South Eastern Combination shield SF 3-1 to AFC Leatherhead. Ultimately a deserved win for the oppo who caught us cold with 2 early goals. Back to 2-1 with 15 to go, (goal from Griff Akai) we poured forward but it wasn’t to be & a breakaway led to a 3rd and game over.

A brilliant sunny Saturday afternoon for Chessington KCFC as we picked up all 6 points from a double header with Sutton High FC. Excellent performances across the squad led to 2-1 and 1-0 victories. Goals from Griff Akai, Harvey and a thunderbolt from Rory Kinnaird. ⚽️ ☀️

A bit of a mad game v Mitcham Park FC today ends in a 6-3 win. We were 2-0 up after 1 minute with the opener from Harvey after just 10 seconds. From 4-1 and cruising we went in at 4-3! 2 second half goals made it a fairer reflection of the game.

Easter holidays give an opportunity to clear out the garden shed. Amazing how much history is contained in one place. Some classic kits to be remembered but will the badge be worn again?? Chessington KCFC
